Big Bag safety factor: 5:1 and 6:1

What the safety factor means, how it is tested and when a Big Bag can be reused.

The safety factor expresses how many times its rated load (SWL) a Big Bag withstands in a break test. A 1,000 kg Big Bag with a 5:1 factor must withstand at least 5,000 kg in testing; a 6:1 bag, at least 6,000 kg.

Why is 5:1 single-trip?

Because the margin is calculated for one cycle of filling, transport and discharge. Reusing it reduces that margin in ways that cannot be seen.

When to use 6:1?

When the operation is a closed loop (for example, plant to plant) and the Big Bag is inspected before each use.

How to calculate the capacity you need
